About the team
Our team provides AWS service teams data on out-of-date Operating System (OS) software across millions of hosts per day. We provide OS software patch-status and remediation SLAs to help service teams understand what they need to do to secure their fleets, how to prioritize their efforts, and how they can stay compliant with internal and external expectations.

Key job responsibilities
An SDE-II in the SecVis team uses their knowledge and skill to make quick two-way-door decisions and executes them to meet the team’s patching visibility goals with guidance from leadership. They influence the outcome of architecture and design efforts across the team, enhancing current products, and in developing new service offerings in support of AWS Security goals.

They work with customers, stakeholders, and peers to understand the business and customer value of our team’s software to ensure we deliver the right solutions to help them achieve their security goals.

They are a champion of operational excellence. They routinely identify and execute on opportunities to improve the team’s operations to continuously enhance customer experience and earn their trust. They take action to improve the stability, reliability and performance of the service both independently and in coordination with their peers. Their work positively impacts the software quality, customer experience, and maintainability of our services.

An SDE-II in the SecVis team is a mentor for junior engineers on the team and is also a technical escalation point for operational issues. They are active in the code review process on our team, providing meaningful feedback to others.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
