Adult Education Teacher

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plan and prepare relevant and practical class lessons that help students make learning gains. Implement a variety of instructional delivery methods, including group or individualized instruction, in-person, hybrid classes and remote delivery. and contextualized instruction Administer student assessments using designated pre- and post-testing materials. Collaborate with students to establish goals, develop a learning plan, and monitor progress. The teacher will help students complete registration and provide proper assessment to determine best lessons. Responsible for effective classroom management that enhances student learning across a range of student ages and ability levels. Assist with student retention by contacting students who have not attended classes recently, either by phone, email, or mail. The teacher will document attendance and enter into database. Assist the program coordinator in such duties as deemed necessary to attain established program goals. Must possess or be eligible for a valid Virginia Teaching license. Adult Educationendorsement preferred, but not required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Demonstrates knowledge of GED content areas. Demonstrates long range planning. Utilizes various forms of technology to assist in the delivery of instruction. Paces instruction to provide opportunities for student success. Demonstrates respect, consideration and courtesy. Cooperates with other teachers to exchange ideas. Maintains accurate records measuring student achievement. Maintains confidentiality. Accepts and fulfills additional responsibilities. Candidates must possess leadership and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students and staff.
