About the Team

The Communications team is responsible for telling the story of how DoorDash empowers local economies by connecting people to all the best merchants and goods in their communities. The team is a nimble, high-impact group that works cross-functionally with key business stakeholders, touching every corner of the organization. A roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, meticulous attention to detail, and out-of-the-box thinking, coupled with a true team spirit and the ability to juggle projects and priorities, are what make this group so effective. 

This role on the team will require knowledge of the tech, business and consumer lifestyle media landscape, a proven track record of managing cross-functional projects and stakeholders, a team player attitude, strong tech and consumer media relationships, and a deep understanding of the evolving media landscape and how to tell an impactful consumer product story.

Support the Consumer and Product Communications team in leading and managing consumer product workstreams, such as product and new category launches, product-driven brand activations and product events.Work closely with the Communications team, as well as the Product Marketing, New Vertical leads, and Product teams, to help develop PR plans that communicate our product and innovation story, working with tech, trade and consumer lifestyle media publications.Identify emerging topics and trends in the on-demand delivery space, and help uniquely place DoorDash into the cultural zeitgeist through creative product storytelling. Develop PR-led campaigns to amplify our existing consumer product suite and non-restaurant category selection in creative, out-of-the-box ways. Lead our product press events, including strategizing and coordinating product launches across our consumer, Dasher, and merchant product suite. Experience with media event planning and execution is encouraged. Draft and edit communications materials including launch plans, press releases, pitches, blog posts, media recaps, and media lists, to support a wide array of company news, from seasonal product campaigns to new product launches.Identify and support evergreen thought leadership opportunities for senior leaders in product and new business verticals to raise corporate profiles.Own media opportunities end to end including securing them, preparing executives, writing talking points and sharing coverage with stakeholders. Proactively develop media relationships with a diverse set of reporters and help manage day-to-day media requests.

You have a bachelor's degree or higherYou have a minimum of 6+ years of experience in communications or PR, working with fast-paced consumer technology companies or clients.You have a minimum of 1+ years of experience working in-house on a communications teamYou have experience leading consumer announcements, product launches, data and product. storytelling, and have a deep understanding and media relationships in consumer tech, lifestyle, and trade media.You have experience leading cross-functional team projects and working with external agencies.You are comfortable advising senior leadership and executives.You enjoy being creative and collaborative in developing fresh and impactful ideas and open to exploring unconventional approaches beyond traditional press activities to break through.You are self-motivated, succeed in high-performance cultures and dynamic environments, and have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.You possess excellent people and project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple time-sensitive projects under tight deadlines.You share in DoorDash’s mission to empower local economies––with a particular interest in raising up underrepresented/underserved communities and shepherding diversity, equity, and inclusion.You are eager to be an active participant in and shepherd of our company culture and values.You take your work, but not yourself, seriously—and maintain a good sense of humor about both.
