Department Summary


The Center for Learning Experimentation, Application, and Research (CLEAR) offers comprehensive services—spanning instructional design, multimedia production, faculty training, accessibility & copyright compliance, and research & development for instructional technologies to create the ultimate destination for modern, innovative online education.

Position Overview

This position performs advanced (senior level) planning, designing, implementation, and research of professional development learning solutions focused on building and enhancing both in-person and online teaching. This position develops short and long-term training goals and course development goals through meeting with DSI and Faculty success leadership, making recommendations for course content, and designing and/or developing course-specific materials. This position has extensive involvement in the design and facilitation of faculty institutes and learning communities. This position will report to the Director of Faculty Development.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's in an academic discipline, minimum 4 years' of experience consulting with college faculty on engaging students in learning with authentic scholarly & professional activities. Any equivalent combination of experience/education/training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong working knowledge of learning and instructional design theories and practice as they apply to course development at the college level. Demonstrated ability to support the effective use of online and facetoface instructional materials and current technologies for a variety of learning tasks, student learning needs, andlearning environments. Thorough knowledge of accessibility and copyright issues that apply to all modes of instructional delivery. Commitment to service, respectful engagement, and continuous improvement. Interpersonal skills that promote team building, collaboration, and a culture that principally understands and measures effectiveness in terms of others successes. Experience mentoring colleagues and students, advising and collaborating with peers and coworkers to provide structured feedback and advice

Preferred Qualifications

PhD, EdD, or Masters with minimum 5 years college teaching experience and experience with teaching and developing Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Job Duties:

  • % - Identifies long/shortrange training goals for the UNT faculty institutes, designing curricula and facilitating institute and learning sessions. This position develops content for and facilitates strategies, teaching methodology, training aids, and evaluative techniques to achieve program goals. - ()
  • % - Designing and facilitating AI courses and grading faculty institutes (CETO, AI, OER) and collaborates on design of additional institutes with director and overseeing event logistic coordination - ()
  • % - Leads and coauthors with other researchers on research on effective online teaching and learning strategies. Researches, identifies, and shares both internal and external professional development resources, and oversees web resource development - ()
  • % - Delivers, designs, and directs high quality live and recorded faculty trainings on teaching and learning with AI, best practices for online teaching, inclusive teaching and a variety of other topics - ()
  • % - Collaborates with other groups at UNT to achieve a cohesive faculty development plan. These groups include but are not limited to: the Office of Faculty Success - ()
