We have a 2-3 year project for a Process Workflow Architect to migrate on-prem applications to Azure Cloud.

The Process Workflow Architect will play a pivotal role in the migration of on-premises applications to Azure Cloud, focusing on designing, reengineering, and optimizing the operational workflows and processes to leverage Azure's capabilities fully. Their responsibilities span from the initial planning stages to the final deployment and post-migration support.

Position Summary
Title: Process / Workflow Architect
Location: Lansing Michigan - there will be 3-4 meetings for initial kickoff, but then most of the work will be remote. Candidate in Michigan will be preferred as some on-site may be required. This role is around 90% remote.

Responsibilities As the Process / Workflow Architect, you will:
- Design and Optimize Workflows: Collaborate with business units to analyze existing processes, identify pain points, and design streamlined workflows.

- Process Mapping: Create detailed process maps, documenting end-to-end workflows, dependencies, and interactions.

- Workflow Automation: Evaluate opportunities for automation using tools such as Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), or workflow management systems.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and align process improvements with strategic goals.

- Change Management: Facilitate the adoption of new workflows, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.

- Quality Assurance: Ensure that optimized workflows meet quality standards and compliance requirements.

- Continuous Improvement: Monitor performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and propose enhancements.
Assessment and Planning

  • Analyze Existing Workflows: Review and document current application workflows, processes, and integration points to understand how they operate in the on-premises environment.
  • Identify Migration Goals: Work with business and IT stakeholders to define the objectives of migrating to Azure, such as cost savings, improved scalability, or enhanced resilience.
  • Evaluate Azure Services: Identify Azure services and technologies that align with the migration goals, considering options like Azure Functions for serverless computing, Azure Logic Apps for process automation, and Azure Kubernetes Service for container orchestration.
Design and Optimization

  • Reengineer Workflows: Design new or modify existing workflows to take advantage of Azure's managed services and scalability features. This may involve breaking down monolithic processes into microservices or integrating Azure's AI and analytics capabilities.
  • Ensure Scalability and Resilience: Design workflows with scalability and resilience in mind, ensuring they can handle varying loads and recover from failures seamlessly.
  • Compliance and Security: Incorporate Azure security and compliance features into the workflow design, ensuring data protection and regulatory compliance across all processes.
Implementation and Integration

  • Develop Deployment Templates: Create Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates or Terraform scripts for automating the deployment of Azure resources and configuring them according to the designed workflows.
  • Integrate with Azure Services: Implement integrations with Azure services, such as Azure AD for identity management, Azure Storage for data storage solutions, and Azure Monitor for logging and monitoring.
  • Data Migration Strategy: Plan and implement the migration of data to Azure, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
Testing and Deployment

  • Performance and Load Testing: Conduct thorough testing to ensure that the new workflows perform optimally under different load conditions and can scale as required.
  • Security and Compliance Testing: Verify that the workflows meet all security requirements and compliance standards, utilizing Azure's security tools and services.
  • Deployment Strategy: Develop a phased or blue-green deployment strategy to minimize risks and ensure a smooth transition.
Monitoring, Optimization, and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor Workflows: Use Azure Monitor and other tools to track the performance and health of the migrated workflows, identifying and addressing issues proactively.
  • Continuous Optimization: Regularly review workflow performance and costs to identify optimization opportunities, leveraging Azure's evolving services and features for ongoing improvements.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Documentation: Document the new workflows and operational practices and share knowledge with the IT and business teams to ensure they understand and can manage the Azure-based processes effectively.


Qualifications
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in process design, workflow architecture, or business process management.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with process modeling tools, automation platforms, and workflow optimization techniques.
Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., BPMN, Lean Six Sigma) are a plus. ? Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive successful project outcomes
