Upper School Program Coordinator

Cambridge School Volunteers
Job Description

Upper School Program Coordinator (Part-Time)

Organization Overview

Cambridge School Volunteers (CSV) supports Pre-K to Grade 12 students with trained

volunteer tutors and mentors. CSV recruits and coaches volunteers to help students of all needs and levels achieve academic and personal success.

CSV has been a nonprofit partner of the Cambridge Public Schools since 1966, and we align our work with the districts academic and social-emotional objectives and equity and anti-racist initiatives. Each year, CSV brings approximately 700 volunteers to work in Cambridge's twelve elementary schools, four upper schools, the Amigos School (K-8), and the Cambridge Rindge and Latin high school (CRLS). These programs match more than 1,400 students annually, primarily for one-to-one or small-group work.

Upper School Programs

CSV manages Learning Centers and the NetPals program in Cambridges Upper Schools, serving students in grades 6-8. Learning Centers provide one-to-one after-school tutoring at each upper school one day a week. NetPals connects science professionals from one of CSVs fifteen partner companies with 7th graders for mentoring through emails and in-person visits at the students school and NetPals workplace.

Job Responsibilities and Compensation

Reporting to the Director of Upper School Programs as part of the upper school team, the Program Coordinator will manage preparation for and on-site supervision of Learning Centers 3:00-4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The Program Coordinator will also work closely with CPS science teachers with the NetPals program, monitoring and supporting NetPals' digital communication, site visits, and field trips. NetPals email and field trip dates are determined each fall.
This role includes but is not limited to, work supporting volunteer recruitment, training, administration, reporting, and evaluation. There are occasional evening and weekend responsibilities, and some flexibility to accommodate upper school schedules is necessary.

CSVs offices are in the Cambridge Rindge & Latin School, and program work takes place in the four upper schools and the Amigos School.

The position is part-time, 20 hours per week, September June, during the 42 weeks of the Cambridge Public Schools academic calendar. Pay is $24/hr. Benefits include a 3% SIMPLE IRA contribution and individual health insurance coverage, prorated at 50%. The start date is September 5, 2023.

Strong organizational and program administration skills
Experience working with middle school-aged students
Competency with Google Drive/Suite preferred.
