Position: Clinical Laboratory TechnologistLocation: New York, NYDuration: 2 MonthsJob Summary:We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will perform a variety of clinical, technical, and service tasks in Molecular Pathology, Tumor Cytogenomics, and Flow Cytometry. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct and oversee laboratory tests, ensuring compliance with quality control and regulatory standards, while providing reliable and accurate results to support the healthcare team and patients.Key Responsibilities:Clinical and Technical Tasks: Perform technical procedures in Molecular Pathology, Tumor Cytogenomics, and Flow Cytometry according to established policy and procedure manuals.Equipment Maintenance: Conduct periodic and as-needed maintenance on laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Maintain proper documentation, including remedial actions for any issues encountered.Quality Control: Perform quality control and calibration procedures as indicated. Document results in the laboratory information system (LIS) and maintain records on Levy-Jennings charts.Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and organized records, including patient requisitions, LIS documentation, and statistical data. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Critical Value Management: Review and verify critical test results by repeat analysis when necessary. Communicate results to nursing staff or physicians, and document the communication in the LIS.Turnaround Time Management: Prioritize work activities to meet established test result turnaround times. Notify the supervisor if a test cannot be performed or if delays occur.Inventory Control: Assist with inventory control to ensure adequate supplies and proper storage. Date supplies when placed in use.Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety procedures and precautions, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper disposal of contaminated waste.Problem-Solving and Initiative: Take initiative in resolving instrument-related problems and finding alternative options for test processing.Communication and Teamwork: Maintain clear communication with healthcare professionals and team members. Foster a professional, courteous, and respectful environment.Professional Development: Participate in training, competency, and proficiency testing programs. Attend continuing education sessions to stay updated on industry trends and best practices.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field.Active state licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.Experience working in a clinical laboratory setting, particularly in Molecular Pathology, Tumor Cytogenomics, or Flow Cytometry.Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) and quality control procedures.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to handle biohazardous materials and follow safety protocols.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
