The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an enjoyable and gratifying employment opportunity with our agency. We are looking for a caring and motivated Preschool Paraprofessional for the Blind/Low Vision to work with our blind/low vision students under the supervision of an Instructor for the Blind/Low Vision at USDB. This position is located in Salt Lake City. Principal Duties: As a Paraprofessional you will:

Prepare teaching materials and tutor individual students under the supervision of the instructor

Communicate the progress of the students to the instructor

Perform such duties as may relate to the motivation and achievement of students in academic and skills areas

Assist with behavior interventions under the direction of the instructor

Assist with routine daily activities,i.e. bus duty,recess,lunch,bathroom (may include diapering),etc.

Provide support in a classroom environment by working directly with teachers and students.

Maintain accurate records and logs.

Design and/or prepare training/instructional materials,teaching aides,and devices.

This is a part-time position for nine (9) months (181) days each school year. Work schedule Monday through Friday,thirty (30) hours per week.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for this position will possess:

Practical knowledge of basic classroom techniques and organization.

Techniques for assisting and providing effective support to classroom teachers.

Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.

Enter,transcribe,record,store,or maintain information in either written or electronic form.

Excited about working with students with disabilities.

Positive in their dealings with teachers and other staff.

Good listeners who follow directions well.

Respected and trusted by students and parents.

Willing to be flexible in work tasks and assignments.

Successful completion of a criminal background check contingent upon employment.
