The firm is a mid-sized multi-practice area law firm in Melbourne, Florida. The litigation group presently consists of 4 attorneys and 3 paralegals who practice in a diverse range of areas, including commercial and construction litigation, property and real estate disputes, trust and will challenges, first party insurance coverage, personal injury, consumer protection, and employment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for civil cases of varying complexity from beginning to end with supervision and mentoring.
Draft pleadings, motions, memorandums, discovery, etc.
Interact with and represent clients in court proceedings, depositions, and negotiations.
Collaborate with colleagues, including paralegals and support staff in conjunction with managing cases and clients as a team.
Strong legal research and writing skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Desire and ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
This position is a mentored path toward the development of your own independent practice and potential partnership within the firm.
Experience
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Minimum of 1-4 years of experience practicing civil litigation.
Member of Florida Bar in Good Standing.
Compensation
$80K-120K+ based on experience and proven record of revenue/billable hour productivity.
1750 billable hours per year minimum expectation.
Qualification for bonus begins upon exceeding collected revenue equivalent to 1750 billable hours.
Compensation plan is transparent and directly related to productivity.
