Technician - Laboratory MLT

Performs a diversity of clinical laboratory testing in designated areas of assignment; recognizes problems, identifies causes, synthesizes alternatives and applies solutions. Confirms and verifies results through an in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles and instrumentation; adapts laboratory interactions to reflect consideration of the patient's specific needs, cultural issues and disability concerns.Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:Minimum of 1 year of training in an accredited program or have previously qualified or could have qualified as testing personnel for High Complexity Testing under CFR 493.1489 of the Federal Regulations published March 14, 1990 (55FR 9538) on or before February 28, 1992Ability to procure blood specimens as required using proper adult and pediatric phlebotomy techniquesPossess the ability to perform a diverse range of clinical laboratory testing at a higher level of independent action, judgment, and accountabilityDepartmental specialized training to provide care to patients within role and successful completion of the MHC Laboratory orientation programCommand of verbal and written EnglishPositive interpersonal communication skillsOperation of clinical equipmentDemonstrates clinical competenceGood organizational skillsPreferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:Educational Requirements: Associate of Science preferredLicense/Certification: MT (ASCP), MT (HS), CLS (NCA), M (ASCP) or equivalentAge Specific Criteria: Ability to effectively communicate to all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.Ability to Meet Job Performance Expectations: Must have the ability to perform essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or other individuals in the workplace, with or without a reasonable accommodation.Sturdy Memorial Hospital is an equal employment opportunity employer.
