Technician - Laboratory MLT

Performs a diversity of clinical laboratory testing in designated areas of assignment; recognizes problems, identifies causes, synthesizes alternatives and applies solutions. Confirms and verifies results through an in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles and instrumentation; adapts laboratory interactions to reflect consideration of the patient's specific needs, cultural issues and disability concerns.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

* Minimum of 1 year of training in an accredited program or have previously qualified or could have qualified as testing personnel for High Complexity Testing under CFR 493.1489 of the Federal Regulations published March 14, 1990 (55FR 9538) on or before February 28, 1992
* Ability to procure blood specimens as required using proper adult and pediatric phlebotomy techniques
* Possess the ability to perform a diverse range of clinical laboratory testing at a higher level of independent action, judgment, and accountability
* Departmental specialized training to provide care to patients within role and successful completion of the MHC Laboratory orientation program
* Command of verbal and written English
* Positive interpersonal communication skills
* Operation of clinical equipment
* Demonstrates clinical competence
* Good organizational skills

Educational Requirements:

* Associate of Science preferred

License/Certification:

* MT (ASCP), MT (HS), CLS (NCA), M (ASCP) or equivalent
