Job SummaryResponsible for the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of the incinerator system and waste management/recycling equipment, and maintaining facility in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.Responsibilities•Operate incinerator system safely and efficiently in compliance with regulatory permits.•Perform preventative maintenance on incinerator system including the incinerator, scrubber, ash system and utility systems.Actively troubleshoot and take appropriate corrective actions. Service and repair equipment used in waste management/recycling program.•Monitor operation of the system through computer logic system gauges and control panels.•Conduct and/or coordinate sampling of ash and emissions for regulatory compliance.•Maintain daily records and logs of equipment operations in accordance with permit requirements of federal, state, and local regulations.•Lead daily activities of incinerator technicians to assure proper waste processing and record keeping.•Report operational problems to the supervisor and initiate appropriate interventions.•Monitor waste logs documented by incinerator technicians for accuracy and regulatory compliance.•Clean and disinfect trash carts and maintain facility/grounds.•Schedule non-CAMC contractors waste disposal activities.•Interact with Maintenance to ensure most efficient use of boiler system.•Maintain parts inventory for incinerator operation including scrubber reagent.•Prepare accurate written reports as required.•Manage all chemicals in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.•Drive 10-wheel truck with standard transmission and hydraulic lifts to transport solid waste; CDL is required.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesPatient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact)The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.
