DescriptionCompetitive wages commensurate with experienceBASIC QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION/TRAINING:Certified Medication Technician currently certified in the State of New JerseyCPR CertificationSKILLS:Sincere desire to work with the geriatric populationHigh level of patience, empathy and compassionExcellent knowledge in their fieldSelf-motivated with good organizational skills and an acute sense of responsibilityAbility to work effectively in a team-oriented environmentKnowledge of computer functions, including designated organization-approved electronic softwareCommunicates with nursing personnel and other department personnelAbility to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this positionEXPERIENCE:Prior experience in a geriatric setting preferredGENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Understanding of state and federal healthcare laws and regulationsDemonstrate required clinical skillProvide professional care to residentsPerform professional duties as determined by qualifications and trainingSTANDARD REQUIREMENTS:Support the Mission, Values and Vision of the Holland Christian HomeUnderstand and honor the Christian principles of the organizationDemonstrate an understanding of the Residential Living principles, including resident choice, privacy, independence, and dignity in all interactions with residentsDemonstrate an understanding of the aging process, cognitive impairments, Alzheimer's and other dementiasEnsure all assigned user ID codes and passwords for accessing resident / facility information are kept confidential; ensure the departmental computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected automatic screen-saver activates within established facility policy guidelinesReport known or suspected incidents of fraud to the AdministratorReport any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility's information systemMaintain HIPAA compliance as well as confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations dataExhibit concern for safety and well-being of staff, residents, families, and visitorsESSENTIAL DUTIES:Administer medications accurately and in accordance with physician orders, regulations and facility policyNotify nurse on duty when any medication is not given as orderedMonitor residents for any adverse reactions to medicationsDocument accurately according to facility policyCollaborate with nursing and healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient careReport changes in Resident status, behaviors and other concerns promptly to nurse on dutyDocument on Mar in timely and legible mannerReceive/transfer oral and written reports at change of shiftProvide assistance with dressing and/or appropriate clothing selectionMaintain an awareness of resident care plans and follow through by implementing care need changes promptlyDemonstrate an understanding of Residential Living principles including Resident choice, privacy, independence, dignity in all interactions with Residents.Supervise and demonstrate pro-active care for residents on a daily basisAssist residents with ambulation, as needed; advise nurse of concernsEnsure that all care is provided in privacy and in a sensitive and respectful mannerProvide assistance with showering and sponge bathingGo out of way to make conversation with residents and to promote sense of home and communityProvide assistance with oral hygiene, shaving, hair care and make upAssist with meal service, maintaining awareness of residents' special diets/needs and assist as needed with diningObserve and report presence of bruises, skin tears, pressure areas and/or skin breakdownProvide assistance with toileting assuring resident is comfortable and dryBe aware/responsive to residents with special needsDemonstrate proper hand washing techniquesDemonstrate knowledge/use of standard precautionsAnswer call bells promptly and courteouslyDemonstrate understanding of how to approach, interact and respond to memory impaired residentsDemonstrate ability to deal positively with cognitively impaired residentsTransport residents within facility as neededPerform minor housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain orderly/neat appearance of the facilityAssist Activity staff with daily activities (help transport and/or encourage attendance, active assist when assigned)OTHER DUTIES:Timely completion of all required in-servicesMust be present for at least one mandatory annual fire drillMust participate in annual N95 Fit TestingAll other responsibilities that may be necessary to fulfill the duties associated with the position or as may be assignedHOURS OF WORK:As per department scheduleEvery other weekend (required)RequirementsCertified Medication Technician currently certified in the State of New JerseyCPR Certification
