Medical Record Technician

Locations: Naytahwaush, MN Type:Federal Salary Range:Per Year Open Period:10/20/2023 to 4/30/2024 Summary:OPEN CONTINUOUS: This Open Continuous Announcement (OCA) allows acceptance of applications throughout the year with eligible applicants being placed on the OCA register and referred for consideration when vacancies occur. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-05: 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 Grade Level OR 4 years above high school. GS-06: 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 Grade Level. GS-07: 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 Grade Level. Specialized Experience Defined: GS-05: Assist providers in completion of their health record documentation and assist coders; scan documents into the electronic health record; file and purge inactive charts. GS-06: Scan documents into the electronic health record; maintain paper and electronic medical records according to policy and regulations; code medical records for various medical and clinical process such as disease, illness, or injury. GS-07: Review medical records for compliance with established third party reimbursement agencies special screening criteria, inconsistencies or discrepancies; organize and check medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements; code complex clinical data into an automated patient management care component system; assist in providing on-going training needs as system modifications occur and coding systems change. Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, as indicated in the table, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.
