Medical Record Technician

This position is a Medical Records Technician (Coder) located at the White Earth Health Center (WEHC) with duty station located at the Naytahwaush Health Center, Naytahwaush, Minnesota. This position reports to the Medical Record Administrative Specialist or Designee.
This is an Open Continuous Announcement and applications will be referred when vacancies occur.
Duties
- Codes diagnosis, operations, and/or procedures from the medical record.
- Makes complete and accurate selection of the principal diagnosis and principal procedure/operation.
- Provides education and coding updates to staff on coding rules and Diagnostic Related Groups (DRG) rules, regulations and guidelines.
- Reviews, analyzes, and performs technical evaluation of medical records for compliance and requirements of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and other accrediting agencies, as well as Federal and State legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures that the final diagnosis reflects accurately the care and treatment rendered.
