Job Description:

The Licensed therapist in Prevention reports to the Assistant Director of Community Health and Prevention. The therapist in this role is responsible for delivering psychoeducational and intervention programming focused on preventing mental illness in youth and enhancing mental wellness for patients within Ohana and in the community at large. Tasks for this position include facilitating intervention programs with youth, parents, and community members; facilitating a workshop, psychoeducation group, and/or support group within Ohana for patients or parents; providing presentations to the community on a range of prevention topics; participating in health education tabling events; facilitating Ohana's Youth Advisory Council; and occasionally responding to crises that affect local schools. Prevention topics include, but are not limited to, effective parenting, co-parent communication, coping skills, mindfulness, resiliency, self-compassion, sleep, nutrition, movement, social connection, and drug and alcohol prevention. The Licensed Therapist will also conduct evaluation of the programs delivered. Finally, the licensed therapist in Prevention will fulfill other necessary tasks as needed to support Ohana's mission and the goals of the Prevention program as assigned by their manager.

Licensed Therapists in Prevention complete their work with less supervision than unlicensed staff and will complete more complex assignments which may include participating in program development. Licensed Therapists in Prevention have the additional responsibility of mentoring team members who are still working towards licensure. The Licensed Therapist in Prevention models clinical practice, professionalism, high work ethic, efficient time management, and high standards of quality. Finally, the licensed therapist in Prevention supports team growth and goals.

The Therapist in Prevention job family consists of three levels of professional, non-management roles: Unlicensed Therapist in Prevention, Licensed Therapist in Prevention, and Senior Therapist in Prevention.

Experience:

Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience working with children, adolescents or families and knowledge of the factors that promote mental health as well as risk factors for mental illness.

This position requires experience in delivering hands-on classes for youth; ability to work in a team setting; interpersonal and communication skills to include public speaking. Fluency, the ability to communicate orally, and the ability to read and write in English is required (English and Spanish preferred). Intermediate computer skills are required. The ability to project a positive, warm, friendly and enthusiastic attitude to the children in our community is required. Excellent customer service is required. Conversational Spanish language skills preferred.

Education:

Master's degree in Social Work or related area (Psychology or Marriage and Family Therapy) is required.

Licensure/Certifications:

LCSW, or LMFT is required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required. Will complete mandatory 5150 training by Monterey County to obtain 5150 certification and obtain 5150 Professional staff authorization yearly.
