Codes Audiology, Physical, Speech and Occupational Therapy, and Neuropsychology outpatient records for all Outpatient Rehabilitation locations. Processes requests for medical records, monitors record completion, assists with record preparation, transcription functions, and clerical tasks. Works closely with Rehab Medical secretary staff, and Finance Department. /Education/Experience:/ At least 4 years of experience working in a clinic or physician office setting or in a Medical Record department. Experience in a coding medical records and working toward, or willing to work toward, a related degree or certification (i.e. RHIT, CCS). /Skills/Abilities:/ Strong customer service skills to work well with internal and external customers including physicians, physicians' office staff, insurance companies, and all members of the health care team and patients. Ability to organize and prioritize workload and work accurately and efficiently. Ability to read, understand, and use documents such a policies, procedures, and by-laws. Ability to learn and use filing systems. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and answer questions in one-on-one situations with other employees in the hospital and the public. Ability to use office machines such as copier, fax, and printers. Familiarity with computers, Windows application, and the ability to learn new computer software and use more than one software application at a time. Prefer background with medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and disease process. Knowledge of Powerchart, IDX, and Softmed. Valid NYS Driver's License for travel between sites for provision of care and meetings.
