Job Summary:

Leads the pharmacy team in the coordination, monitoring and supervision of pharmacy services the department. This includes human resources, medication systems and pharmaceutical care to insure the provision of quality patient focused care that meets all Federal, State and local laws and regulations. Plans and develops customer focused pharmacy systems and services for specific area to meet the changing needs of the medical enterprise. Works with administrative team and staff to constantly innovate the method for delivery of quality cost effective pharmacy services. Manages and develops staff members to insure competency and growth of staff. Manages budget including volumes, drug & personnel expense for a specific area.

Responsibilities:

  • The Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt Inpatient Manager is responsible for overall management of the pediatric inpatient pharmacy and cardiac satellite pharmacy, including but not limited to:

  • Managing inpatient pharmacy workflow

  • Personnel management:

  • Direct management of inpatient pharmacy supervisors and technician coordinators

  • Indirect management of inpatient pharmacists and pharmacy technicians

  • Oversight for FTE utilization and productivity

  • Oversight for inpatient pharmacy orientation and training

  • Oversight for inpatient pharmacy compliance

  • Review of inpatient pharmacy standard operating procedures

  • Coordination and communication of inpatient pharmacy process changes

  • Participation in departmental audits, committees, and operational meetings

  • Submission and validation of informatics updates to support pharmacy workflow/patient safety

  • Prior management experience and/or residency training is preferred

Hours:

  • Monday – Friday, Day Shift

  • Incorporation in Manager on Call weekend rotation

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Pharmacist (Required)

  • Tennessee Board of Pharmacy Pharmacist License must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

  • 2 years of relevant work experience (Required)
