Job Description

Position: Mid-Level Network Administrator

Location: Fairfax, VA [Potential for local travel within the State of Virginia]

Citizenship: US Citizens or US Permanent Residents

Summary:

SPN Solutions Inc. is actively seeking a Mid-Level Network Administrator with 3 years of experience. The perfect candidate will exemplify a blend of technical proficiency, hands-on expertise, and a keen understanding of network dynamics. While prior experience with SCADA environments will be appreciated, our main emphasis lies on in-depth familiarity with networking principles and practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field.
  • Cisco Network Certification - CCNA (Preferred).
  • At least 3 years of experience in a network engineering role, with a preference for those familiar with government settings.
  • Demonstrable skills in managing Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, and related equipment.
  • Robust analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Articulate with both written and spoken communications.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Network Management & Support:
  • Assist in planning and deploying LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including setting up routers, switches, and related hardware.
  • Support the configuration and setup of software, servers, routers, and other network devices.
  • Monitor network performance, ensuring consistent availability and reliability, and assist in addressing potential issues.
Remote Network Assistance:
  • Use tools such as Auvik to assist in visualizing and managing the network infrastructure.
  • Utilize Connectwise RMM to support network health assessments and address potential issues.
Firewall Support:
  • Assist in reviewing and adjusting firewall configurations with tools like Connectwise Automate.
  • Support in updating firewalls with recent threat intelligence to counteract modern cyber threats.
  • Aid in monitoring traffic, identifying potential threats, and taking preventive actions.
Switch Resource Assistance:
  • Support using tools like Auvik to ensure the smooth performance of switches and optimal data traffic management.
  • Assist in updating switches with the latest firmware versions using Connectwise Automate.
  • Support in configuring VLANs, focusing on efficient traffic management and enhanced security.
Device Handling (including Cisco switches, routers, firewalls):
  • Implement, upkeep, and troubleshoot core network devices like Cisco switches and routers.
  • Engage with Software Defined Networking (SDN) mechanisms.
  • Facilitate and monitor effective load balancing for optimized network traffic flow.
Introduction to SCADA Environments:
  • Gain exposure to securing networks tailored for SCADA and associated control systems.
  • Interact with specialized teams for SCADA-linked requirements and tasks.
Security & Compliance:
  • Set in motion and supervise necessary security measures.
  • Assure the network infrastructure stays in line with industry benchmarks and stipulations.
  • Cooperate with cybersecurity units to fortify network defenses.
Backup Procedures:
  • Draft and roll out strategies for network backups and data redundancy.
  • Periodically assess backup solutions for data veracity and recoverability.
Documentation & Reporting:
  • Keep records updated concerning network structures, procedures, and equipment logs.
  • Create and present reports on network health, predictions, and current status for managerial evaluation.
Mentoring & Team Integration:
  • Assist newer team members and participate in informational exchanges.
  • Team up with other IT segments to ensure synchronized tech operations and efficient problem-solving.
