Position Overview
This position is responsible for the delivery of high quality, timely and cost-effective legal services to meet the business strategic and operational needs. The position will be involved in contract drafting and negotiation (from NDAs through to complex commercial agreements) and provide company secretarial services to regional subsidiary boards, ensuring accurate and timely compliance with reporting requirements under relevant laws and/or regulations.

Legal Services Delivery: Experience in providing quality legal advice; Ability to offer professional judgement in complex or sensitive matters; Demonstrated legal analysis skills

Setting Direction: establishes priorities, develops, monitors and adjusts to meet goals
Integration collaborates, offers support for other business areas as they plan and implement initiatives
Commercial acumen develops understanding of a wide variety of business areas and industry
Demonstrated Knowledge
Current practising certificate in the UK or Ireland
Plain English contract and advice drafting skills
Background in travel insurance and/or travel assistance industries desirable, but not essential
Potential for strategic and conceptual thinking supported by analytical and problem-solving skills
Developed interpersonal skills with an ability to interact and influence at all levels
Strategic and conceptual thinking supported by analytical and problem-solving skills
Skills to facilitate planning and determine priorities within department and across business units

Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Working knowledge of Company, Data Protection, Privacy and Competition & Consumer legislation preferable
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
To be successful in this role you will need to be able to:
Preparing quality, timely and commercial solutions orientated legal advice to the business.
Ensuring the legal function provides high quality plain English legal advice that can be practically and commercially applied by the business
Drafting and negotiating insurance distribution agreements, non-disclosure agreements, agency agreements and other client and supplier contracts and associated documents for the business units in the UK and Europe
Advising the business units on UK, EEA and non-EEA state regulations governing the sale and distribution of general insurance products with a particular focus on distribution in cross border deals involving multiple parties, different distribution models (direct and intermediated) and different deal structures (including group and individual policy structures).
Advising the business on data protection and the application of the General Data Protection Regulation
Preparing legal review and sign off on a variety of documents produced by the business including marketing campaigns, responses to complaints from customers, responses to consultations by the regulator, etc
Maintaining abreast of all legal developments that could affect the business, informing the business of them and helping them prepare for any changes required
Managing litigation matters for business units in the UK and Europe
Building collaborative and productive working relationships across the organisation and with key external stakeholders
Liaising with external legal advisors on various matters and co-ordinating the delivery of legal services to the businesses in the UK and Europe using external resources
In conjunction with Group Head of Risk and Compliance, act as the key regulatory liaison in the UK and Ireland
Providing support to Senior Legal Counsel and taking on delegated duties as requested
Providing company secretarial services to relevant boards of directors, ensuring accurate and timely compliance with reporting requirements under relevant laws and/or regulations
Maintaining the corporate governance frameworks in the business units in the UK and Europe
