SUMMARY:
Responsible for assessing and providing occupational therapy for students ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade and encouraging functional independence and participation within the learning environment.
Provide therapy based on student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASKS:
Develop, plan, prepare, and implement:
Individual, measurable, long-term, and short-term objectives based on student identified needs.
Effective working schedule.
Appropriate use of assigned aide/volunteers or OT students.
Apply therapy techniques, strategies, and intervention to enhance/motivate students to meet IEP goals and objectives and evaluate student performance based on IEP’s.
Maintain necessary documentation of student performance and write clear and concise diagnostic results.
Provide:
And maintain student involvement during instruction and establish expectations for appropriate behavior.
Assistance with self-help skills, foundational gross motor skills, mobility skills, posture, and positioning, as well as recreational skills for age-appropriate play.
Monitor student growth and progress, adapt support as needed, and maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of students.
Communicate student’s progress and needs with parents/guardians and other staff as needed.
Collaborate:
With teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to improve student outcomes.
With colleagues in team and building-based meetings and discussions.
Demonstrate a commitment to:
Understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity.
Include and engage families in the student’s education.
Support all school district policies, procedures, and expectations.
Provide personal and professional excellence.
Participate in:
Multi-disciplinary diagnostic and placement teams.
Department, team, building, and district meetings and discussions.
Student and/or family conferences and other meetings.
Social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities.
Professional growth opportunities.
Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
Degree from an accredited occupational therapy program required.
Experience instructing students in a school setting preferred.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Criminal background check required for hire.
Valid Colorado Special Services license with Occupational Therapist endorsement required.
