Our accounting department is looking for a data-driven Legal Bookkeeper to assist our established firm. Responsibilities

•Prepare attorney draws and assist with preparing tax filings.
•Monitors banking transactions and procedures, including preparing monthly bank account reconciliations.
•Responsible for accounts payable functions, including preparing check and ACH/credit card payments, account coding, and cash availability.
•Accounts receivable and cash receipts functions.
•Preparation and distribution of monthly client invoices.
•Prepare monthly budget reports.
•Works with attorneys and staff toward integration of various data systems as it pertains to financial controls and reconciliation with the accounting system.
•Responsible for the ongoing and overall integrity of the general ledger including account reconciliation.
•Maintains and revises the chart of general ledger accounts to ensure proper classification of revenue and expenses.
•Serves as backup to the Office Manager in the processing of payroll and handles all attorney draws.
•Orders and inventories supplies.
•Answer client inquiries concerning invoices and keep attorneys apprised of resolution.

Qualifications

The Bookkeeper is responsible for the firm's day-to-day bookkeeping, including billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliation, accepting and depositing funds, and has a firm grasp of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting procedures. The Bookkeeper should be detail-oriented, possess excellent analytical and communication skills, and have the ability to work accurately and gracefully under pressure. The Bookkeeper will use the firm's practice management system and accounting software to record transactions and prepare standard reports as directed by the partners and will maintain strict confidentiality in handling financial data. The bookkeeper's duties are designed to keep the partners apprised of the heartbeat and health of the firm. In addition, the bookkeeper shall immediately apprise the partners of any unusual financial activity or problem that may arise. The Bookkeeper must be proficient in MS Excel, data entry, and accounting software.

We need someone with the experience and maturity to keep the firm's needs at the forefront and work closely with the partners and key staff on strategy, policy, problem-solving, and decision-making.
