Perform a basic to advanced level skilled work to identify, remove, and install aircraft components and to perform servicing of engines and aircraft accessories to ensure airworthiness according to customer specifications and FAA standards. Reads and complies with instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work. Job Duties and Responsibilities 1 Services and repairs aircraft and engines to ensure airworthiness according to customer specifications and FAA standards. 2 Removes and replaces aircraft components according to driving documentation. 3 Identifies, removes, and installs inspection access panels. 4 Reads maintenance manuals to identify and locate aircraft components on the aircraft, and accurately implements instructions of maintenance manuals. Identifies the structural composition of aircraft (i.e., aluminum or composite) prior to performing any work on the structure. 5 Performs aircraft lubrications. 6 Removes and replaces filters, and performs leak checks. 7 Performs repairs on noted discrepancies, and effectively researches manufacturer’s manual for appropriate repair procedures prior to performing repairs. 8 Proficient in Flightstar’s integrated operating systems relating to locating parts, alternate part numbers, requesting parts and verifying effectivity of parts. 9 Uses basic hand tools or equipment to perform skilled manual and technical work. 10 Lifts and carries hand tools, parts, and work materials; ascends and descends ladders and platforms; and frequently works in a variety of positions such as stooping, kneeling or squatting. 11 Follows safety procedures and wears/uses appropriate safety equipment for the work being performed. 12 Follows instructions and Flightstar’s standard operating procedures. Responsible for remaining current on all required training regarding aircraft maintenance and safety standards to personnel assigned to him/her as apprentices, if any. 13 Communicates effectively in English regarding work activities, per FAA requirements. 14 Prepares and maintains basic records such as work order and non-routine task card documentation, logs, and time and material records, as instructed. 15 Possesses working knowledge of ATA Codes (Chapter and Subchapters) as well as aircraft zones, narrow body airframe familiarization, and industry standards. 16 Reads instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work. Signs off aircraft maintenance paperwork as ‘Qualified Mechanic’ upon meeting all regulatory and customer program requirements. 17 Performs routine servicing of engines and aircraft accessories. 18 Performs work actions in the jacking and leveling of aircraft. 19 Performs other duties as assigned. (This does no bypass need for communication) 1 2 Decisions that will require approval. 1 Time off requests Key Interactions Internal Departments or Job Titles Purpose Immediate Manager/ Supervisor and other Maintenance Leadership Other department employees and contract employees External Businesses or Organization Purpose Corporate and OpCO employees Customers Position Profile Required Preferred Level Academic Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required x Languages Read, speak, write, and understand the English language. x Special Licenses Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate is preferred; Airframe Familiarization (FAM) course certificates preferred x Drivers License x Previous Experience Minimum 18 months of relevant experience providing knowledge of narrow and wide body airframe techniques, terminology, parts, etc, or completion of FAA approved A&P program. x Technical Skills Basic computer skills to navigate Flightstar’s ERP system, vending (POU), as well as research customer’s maintenance manuals. x Required Skills Lifts and carries hand tools, parts, and work materials; ascends and descends ladders and platforms; and frequently works in a variety of positions such as stooping, kneeling or squatting. x Working Conditions Personal Protective Equipment Works safely and follow safety rules and regulations. Reports unsafe working conditions and behavior. Takes reasonable prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices. Adheres to Flightstar’s SMS safety culture. Safety glasses required. Prescription safety glasses required if applicable.
