Summary About the Position: This military technician position is with the 412th Theater Engineer Command, Headquarters Support Command, 365 Engineer Battalion, 302 Maneuver Enhancement Brigade located at Schuykill Haven, Pennsylvania. Assist in conducting risk assessments to formulate corrective and/or preventative actions. Analyze accident investigation reports involving operations and facilities to identify potential problems and/or trends. Assist in performing safety awareness training Promotes safety programs through presentations, briefings and displays Assist brigade safety specialist in forming recommendations for hazard abatement. Maintain records and data of the Battalion Safety Program. Maintain a Hazard Log to track items through the abatement process to close. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing or reviewing written products; delivering oral briefings; identifying, preventing, or eliminating safety hazards in work processes or environmental conditions in areas such as: fire prevention inspector, construction, safety, engineering, radiation, transportation, or electrical safety; and/or safety training or promotion. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information Management Oral Communication Public Safety and Security Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08). Applicants who are current Federal employees or who are eligible for Reinstatement may be able to qualify with experience equivalent to the second lower grade (GS-07).
