The Department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Genetic Counselor 1 to work in Miami, FL.

The Genetic Counselor 1 provides genetic counseling, education, and psychological support for those with genetic disorders, birth defects, positive newborn screening results or who are at risk for a variety of inherited conditions.
Provides services in response to a wide variety of referral indications, such as pediatric and adult genetics, cancer, and preconception.

Provides outreach and education to healthcare professionals and the general population.

Establishes and maintains partnerships with community and disease organizations.

Develops educational and promotional materials.

Speaks at engagements in schools or community centers.

Updates web content for the clinic to ensure accuracy.

Interacts with and supervises genetic counseling students and other medical trainees.

Assists with the design and implementation of teaching strategies and content for trainees, healthcare providers, and members of the community.

Maintains confidentiality of all patient information, according to federal, local, and state guidelines and regulations.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in relevant field

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

Certifications in relevant specialty or field

Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.

Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

Ability to understand and follow instructions.
