Who you’ll work with

Cisco Customer Experience (CX) is a critical division within Cisco Systems, dedicated to ensuring that customers achieve the greatest possible value from their Cisco products and solutions. The CX team comprises professionals in support, professional services, and customer success roles, working collaboratively to offer a comprehensive suite of services that span the entire lifecycle of Cisco's offerings. Cisco CX is seamlessly integrated with the rest of the Cisco organization, leveraging the company's vast technology portfolio and expertise to deliver personalized and proactive experiences that align with customers' business objectives, thus fostering customer loyalty and driving successful outcomes.

When you work with us, you’ll be part of a select group of software engineers that was created to handle unique security-focused projects. While the team is small, the work we do has significant, real-world impact, and requires our engineers to be willing to tackle hard problems, that are beyond their knowledge & skill level. As such, we believe heavily in talent cultivation within the team, and invest time in our engineer’s technical & career growth. Although we have the autonomy and openness to new ideas of a startup, we also have the support & infrastructure of a large corporation. We've become a successful team by focusing on the growth of each member. If you have the desire & capability to develop the technical skills needed for this role, we have the willingness to train

About You

  • You are highly motivated, passionate about software engineering & security.

  • You are flexible and able to pick up new technologies & programming languages.

  • You have phenomenal communication skills, and a desire to work with hardworking individuals.

  • You have the skills necessary to learn new technical skills and communicate effectively with the team.

  • You are an effective problem-solver and trouble-shooter.

  • You love working together as a team and have a desire to speak up, share ideas, and help members of the team.

What You'll Do

You will work in Research Triangle Park, NC, or Annapolis Junction, MD, researching unique technical problems, and developing tooling to assist in that research. Previous experience in software development, security research, or digital forensics is a plus, but is not required. Your work will involve navigating and understanding very large code bases to determine how specific features work and build tooling to assist in live system inspection. The tooling we develop benefits everyone on the team and is one development product that is also fed back into a larger ecosystem of researchers within the company.

The work is challenging, but we prioritize a proper work/life balance. It will be rare that you will be in the office more than 40 hours a week. On this team, contribution & performance are measured by the work you do, not how much time you spend at your desk. There is a lot of flexibility for dealing with life outside of work, because we believe this helps the team perform at its highest level.

Who You Are:

Minimum Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree and/or a minimum 3+ (or Masters +2) years of professional experience in a software engineering role

  • Ability to take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Your communication and presentation skills are exemplary, working in highly collaborative and multi-functional teams.

  • Perfectly comfortable spending your entire day using the command-line instead of a GUI

Why Cisco?

#WeAreCisco. We are all unique, but collectively we bring our talents to work as a team, to develop innovative technology and power a more inclusive, digital future for everyone. How do we do it? Well, for starters - with people like you

Nearly every internet connection around the world touches Cisco. We’re the Internet’s optimists. Our technology makes sure the data traveling at light speed across connections does so securely, yet it’s not what we make but what we make happen which marks us out. We’re helping those who work in the health service to connect with patients and each other; schools, colleges, and universities to teach in even the most challenging of times. We’re helping businesses of all shapes and sizes to connect with their employees and customers in new ways, providing people with access to the digital skills they need and connecting the most remote parts of the world - whether through 5G, or otherwise.

We tackle whatever challenges come our way. We have each other’s backs, we recognize our accomplishments, and we grow together. We celebrate and support one another - from big and small things in life to big career moments. And giving back is in our DNA (we get 10 days off each year to do just that).

We know that powering an inclusive future starts with us. Because without diversity and a dedication to equality, there is no moving forward. Our 30 Inclusive Communities, that bring people together around commonalities or passions, are leading the way. Together we’re committed to learning, listening, caring for our communities, whilst supporting the most vulnerable with a collective effort to make this world a better place either with technology, or through our actions.

So, you have colorful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing?

Be you, with us
