A biotechnology company in Massachusetts is currently seeking an experienced IT professional to join their IT Infrastructure team as their new Senior Infrastructure Engineer. In this role, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for providing operational management of the organization's technical infrastructure (including hardware, software, servers, databases, storage solutions, networks, and high-performance computing) in support of business needs.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of all infrastructure projects
  • Manage and ensure optimal operation of all IT infrastructure equipment on a 24/7 basis
  • Manage and provide direction for the team in support of business operations
  • Ensure high availability, backup, and continuity of all IT infrastructure, continuously monitoring reliability, resiliency, and performance and developing and executing projects as necessary to maintain IT operations
  • Lead IT infrastructure upgrades, maintenance, and migrations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for IT infrastructure
  • Establish best practices and policies for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure disaster recovery plans are in place for all critical infrastructure components; maintain and test to ensure solutions are effective
  • Developed and deployed methodologies for testing infrastructure performance and providing performance statistics and reports
  • Research and make recommendations on products and services
  • Participate in audits and assessments of the IT infrastructure
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of IT experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, and/or a related field
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging infrastructure technologies and practices.
  • Experience developing strategies to leverage teams that embrace business technologists, e.g., Informatics.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Solid technical knowledge of Infrastructure systems, networking, and IT architecture best practices
  • Experience with the following technologies: Routing, Switching, Firewalls, collaboration tools, compliance suites, End-point management systems, remote backup technologies, DHCP, Active Directory, Email system administration
  • Basic understanding of Operational Change Management practices
  • Working knowledge of Network Routing and Switching, Firewall management, Cloud Infrastructure and OS administration, telecom management, and systems Infrastructure Engineering
  • Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue-resolution techniques
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
Desired Skills:
  • CompTIA Network+, ITIL v3, PMP, AWS- Practitioner, CCNA/CCIE, and/or Azure Administrator
