At Tom Anelli & Associates, we represent good people charged criminally (with DWIs). Some of the clients we help have substance issues and in those cases, we use their hard work in handling their substance dependency issues to get them better results. For those who have made a mistake, we help to ensure they get the best possible offer without allowing their charge to derail their otherwise successful lives.

Our work is redeeming good work, done for good people who have made an error in judgment or who struggle with substance dependency. In either event, we help them by coming beside them at a very difficult time in their lives and helping them find their way in a criminal justice system that can chew up and spit out those who are unfamiliar and not properly represented. So, suppose you'd like to work within the excitement of the criminal courthouse system in an area of the law filled with exciting science (forensic toxicology, pharmacology, and accident reconstruction). In that case, this may be the job for you.

Responsibilities

•Perform research, draft briefs, pleadings, and motions
•Preside over paralegals, administrative assistants in connection with keeping track of time records, reviewing client billing, setting up client meetings and completing client projects
•Get the appropriate legal documents ready for clients, such as brief, motions, and pleadings, as well as correspondence
•Appear in court on behalf of clients and argue motions during legal proceedings
•Counsel clients by assessing options and determining the best course of action for a successful outcome
•Analyze client needs, identify solutions, and determine case strategies

Qualifications

•Member of the NYS Bar Association
•Advanced computer skills working with legal research programs (Westlaw and Lexis) required
•Decision-making, public speaking, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and communication skills are a must
•Jobseekers should be a member of their local bar association - active member preferred Association
•Over 1 year of experience representing clients in a law firm
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is necessary
