Overview:

The Orthopedic RN provides direct nursing care to patients, working within the nursing process. They provide clinical leadership and assume relief charge duties when designated, and serve as a role model to promote a positive work environment and quality patient care. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans
  • Assist with special tests and procedures
  • Participate in orientation and preceptor training; evaluate new personnel
  • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs
  • Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
  • Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care

Requirements:

  • Graduate of nationally accredited nursing program
  • Current CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers certification within 30 days
  • Current RN license in NM, or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM
  • Nationally Certified in the area of specialty, preferred
  • Heavy work, exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally
  • Sig Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials req PPE
