Founded in 1938, Wilcox Medical Center is a not-for-profit medical center dedicated to providing the Kauai community with accessible quality health care. The largest medical center on Kauai, it is a state-of-the-art acute care facility with a full suite of services offering 30 specialties and programs, including cardiology, emergency, family practice, gastroenterology, health management, internal medicine, neurology, OB-GYN, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and urology. Its 18-bed emergency department serves as the islands Primary Stroke Center. The medical center also has four birthing suites, seven intensive care beds and 20 same-day surgery beds. Wilcox is the first American College of Surgeons-verified Level III Trauma Center in the state of Hawaii. Wilcox is part of Hawaii Pacific Health, one of the states leading health care systems and a not-for-profit health care organization with medical centers, clinics, physicians and other caregivers working together to create a healthier Hawaii.
The Emergency Room department at Wilcox Medical Center is Kauai's only Level III Emergency Room. All Emergency Medicine physicians are board certified and committed to providing quality patient care in a high-intensity setting. With 20 patient rooms, our Emergency staff typically treats 60 patients per day during the week, and approximately 70 to 80 patient visits on weekends. Our Emergency Room staff also provides care to many visitors, in addition to addiction treatment and patients with chronic illnesses.
As the Emergency Department Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring that the Emergency Room is able to provide quality, effective intervention for patients with critical health conditions. You would support and care for patients under the direct clinical supervision of licensed professionals including monitoring and documenting vital signs and patient flow. We are looking for someone comfortable working in a high-intensity setting that requires remarkable patient care and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team-oriented atmosphere and a commitment to creating a healthier Hawaii.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Completion of nursing degree, critical care technician or EMT program. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card. One (1) year clinical or emergency experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years emergency experience with pediatric patients.
