Dean Technical High School is seeking a passionate and experienced Advanced Manufacturing Instructor to join our Career and Technical Education (CTE) team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Advanced Manufacturing, preparing students for successful careers in the manufacturing industry. The instructor will utilize the latest educational frameworks provided by the Massachusetts Department of Secondary Education to close the gap between education and industry.
Responsibilities:

  • Educational Delivery and Curriculum Development:
    • Teach courses in Advanced Manufacturing following the Massachusetts Chapter 74 Frameworks for Advanced Manufacturing.
    • Develop and update curriculum to include hands-on learning experiences, safety standards, technical skills, employability skills, and knowledge of cutting-edge manufacturing technologies.
    • Guide students through the process of understanding manufacturing principles, design and blueprint reading, machining operations, quality practices and measurement, and robotics in the manufacturing process.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure a safe learning environment by enforcing health and safety standard practices, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA standards.
    • Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment and machinery.
  • Student Assessment and Support:
    • Assess student progress through practical and theoretical evaluations, projects, and performance tasks as outlined in the frameworks.
    • Provide additional support to students requiring extra help, including mentorship and career guidance.
  • Professional Development and Industry Engagement:
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technology.
    • Engage with industry partners to facilitate guest lectures, workshops, and potential student internships or apprenticeships.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills and manufacturing knowledge.
Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
    • Current Voc Tech Teacher: Manufacturing, Engineering and Technological Cluster, Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 9-14, Preliminary or Professional License (or ability to be licensed) required.
    • To attain this license, a person must have:
      • High school diploma or the equivalent.
      • Passing score on each test (written test, performance test) in advanced manufacturing technology.
      • Five years of full-time employment experience directly related to advanced manufacturing technology.
      • One of the following:
        • Achieve a passing score on the Communication and Literacy Skills test.
        • Achieve a passing score on the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test (VTLST).
