Health Information System Specialist

Responsibilities:The HIS Specialist carries out specific duties required to fulfill health information services functions. Completes data abstraction for regulatory agencies, executive reporting, and billing services.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Abstracting and entering HBIPS data on recent inpatient discharges
- Abstracting data for Vericle Billing and other projects as designated
- Auditing patient charts for quality improvement and regulatory projects
- Provides general administrative support to health information including:
- Processing after-discharge requests for information
- Pulling and filing medical records
- Scanning inactive medical records for all PrairieCares sites, and covering as needed in the other PrairieCare sites
- Provides general administrative support to the HIS Supervisor and department as needed
- This position requires a minium of a 2 year degree
- Minimum of 2 years of health information services experience and/or a Registered Health Information Technician designation
- Demonstrates proficiency and ability to actively improve processes that relate to patient care support
- Proficient technical skills using a variety of HIS specific and non-specific hardware and software applications, including EHRs, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Word, and Vericle Billing.
