JOB DESCRIPTION:The Universal Newborn Hearing Screening (UNHS) technician is responsible for providing hearing screening services to newborns who are admitted to UVMMC in the Mother/Baby Nursery, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the Transition Nursery.EDUCATION:High school graduate or equivalent.EXPERIENCE:Working with infants/children.Knowledge/Special Skills:Must be comfortable working with newborns and have a basic understanding of appropriate handling of newborns.Must have legible handwriting and strong attention to detail.Must understand the need for a high degree of cleanliness.Must have good communicate skills.The UNHS technician will be educated regarding the need for early detection of hearing loss as well as how to correctly use the equipment and the electronic medical record system.They will successfully complete the UNHS training processes.
