As a Forensic Outreach Coordinator, you will serve as the main point of contact to Indiana's county coroners, deputy coroners, forensic pathologists, funeral directors, police officers, prosecutors, and fire fighters within the counties served by Indiana Donor Network. The position provides key communications, education service activities and issue resolution designed to support the highest level of organ and/or tissue donation outcomes on donor cases that may be affected by the actions of these professions. In addition, this position is responsible for the coordination of the Indiana Donor Network non-hospital death referral/donation program.Some of the key result areas of this position include:Serves as the organ and tissue donation advocate and consultant to coroners, deputy coroners, forensic pathologists, police investigators and prosecutors within the Indiana Donor Network designated service area (DSA) to decrease coroner declines for hospital referrals and increase the number of out-of-hospital referrals.Serves as the donation advocate and consultant to funeral homes within the Indiana Donor Network designated service area (DSA), with the goal of improving relationships and reducing negative influence funeral directors impart upon families that result in organ or tissue declines.Meets defined business development goals.Maintains appropriate documentation of essential activities.Participates in projects, committees or initiatives that enhance or improve the overall success or culture of the organization.This position is tasked with covering the southern territory of the state of Indiana. The schedule for this position includes regional coverage Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The team rotates statewide call coverage after 5:00 pm, approximately 1/3 of the time. QualificationsA Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, business, mortuary services, criminal justice or health-related fields is required, as well as 3-5 years of experience in a related field.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must possess the ability to handle difficult personalities and crucial conversations in high stress situations successfully.Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office products and demonstrate basic computer skills, including ability to maintain data in CRM tool.Must understand essential aspects of organ and tissue donor screening, clinical management of an organ donor, and comprehensive organ and tissue donation processes.Must have working knowledge of coroner role, funeral director role and Indiana law related to both professions.Skill in preparing and delivering appropriate communications including verbal presentations, written documents, reports and letters or through audio/visual presentations.Must be able to negotiate with customers and Indiana Donor Network staff as an advocate for the process of donation to obtain, secure and implement any vital service that would contribute to the successful completion of the donation process.Ability to work effectively with all Indiana Donor Network departments.Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate coroner meetings where attendance is appropriate and/or required.Ability to attend monthly Hospital Services Department meetings and bi-monthly Indiana Donor Network staff meetings in Indianapolis.Ability to comprehend the various federal and non-federal regulatory requirements governing Indiana Donor Network hospitals and transplant centers to contribute to maintaining regulatory compliance and/or certification.Ability to always represent Indiana Donor Network and the donation and transplant process in a professional manner to both health-related groups and/or the general public.Must have a valid Indiana driver's license and be able to travel via car to any of the 86 counties in the DSA, with occasional overnight stays.
