Audiologist Job Responsibilities•The clinical audiologist is responsible for evaluating hearingin children birth to twenty-one years of age. Should the child have a hearing loss, the audiologist provides individualizedcare and partners with families to manage their loss for the development ofspeech, language, communication, and academic success. The Audiology Department collaborates closelywith the MWS Listening and Spoken Language Pre-School, as well as the THI SpeechTherapy Clinic. Skills•Provide audiologic services (assessment and management)to a pediatric population•Complete age-appropriate diagnostic audiologicalevaluations, including tympanometry, acoustic reflex testing and otoacoustic emissions•Complete electrophysiologic testing (Sedated andNon-Sedated ABR)•Complete hearing aid evaluations, hearing aid fittings,as well as hearing aid troubleshooting and minor repairs •Knowledge of cochlear implant and bone anchored hearingdevices; provide appropriate recommendations •Working knowledge of speech acoustics as it relates tospoken language development•Complete cochlear implant candidacy assessments•Complete Hearing Assistive Technology (HAT) system selection,fitting, and troubleshooting•Provide education to parents, teachers, and otherprofessionals working with children with hearing impairments •Participate in the development of evidence-basedprotocols and guidelines•Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentationPhysical Demands: Stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; talk; hear; ableto lift 15 pounds; able to endure outdoor temperatures for camp supervision orspecial events.Qualifications andExperience:•ADoctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) is required from an accredited college oruniversity.•Certificateof Clinical Competency (CCC) in Audiology and/orBoard Certification from theAmerican Academy of Audiology •TexasLicense•3Years of pediatric audiology experience, preferred Travel: Must be able to travel to attend hearing screenings, trainings and/or other events as required to acquire and maintain proficiency in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.
