Job Summary:

BJ’s is looking for a motivated, energetic and strategic Senior Specialist of External Communications to join our corporate communications team. The senior specialist will be concentrating on social media with proven experience on all social media platforms, a pulse on best practices and trends within the industry as well as a deep knowledge of influencer marketing. The senior specialist will have significant experience working for a corporation or large retailer, leading the company’s social media channels and developing an engaging strategy while delivering creativity, ingenuity and innovation to the brand and its social channels. Proficient experience with social management tools is a must.

Experience in public relations, crisis communications and proficiency in executive writing is a must.

Major tasks, responsibilities and key accountabilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day social media channels for the brand, including reviewing and approving content with the company’s social media tool and developing and managing social media editorial calendars
  • Support key business priorities and engage members through brand-building on traditional social media platforms
  • Plan and manage implementation of influencer and social media plans that support a wide range of consumer-facing initiatives
  • Manage and help scale influencer programming and content with a focus on driving engagement, consideration and sales
  • Manage the brand’s social media presence and oversee creative development and execution of content
  • Develop and execute seasonal and category specific campaigns, including influencer, social and media relations
  • Lead influencer programs for priority categories
  • Collaborate with partners in merchandising, marketing, membership, real estate and development and digital marketing to deliver external communications programming aligned with business priorities
  • Oversee social measurement and analytics
  • Identify trends in social media that can help deliver against strategic objectives
  • Keep a strong pulse on emerging technology and platforms
  • Support overall corporate communications team and objectives in various areas including social media, public relations, community affairs, internal communications and crisis communications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or related field required
  • 5 - 10 years of professional experience in social media, public relations, external communications, influencer marketing
  • Strong analytical skills, social listening and reporting capabilities
  • Proficient experience in crisis communications, corporate affairs, social content creation, media buying across social channels, social strategy development and influencer marketing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven storyteller and effective communicator
  • Highly collaborative with internal and external partners
  • Excellent writing skills and public speaking capabilities

Job Conditions:

  • Available to travel to media engagements throughout BJ’s current and future club locations as well as BJ’s clubs for media and on-site activations and community events (20% travel)
  • Hybrid in-office three days a week

This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $76,000.00.
