ResponsibilitiesOperate extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) equipment and perform ECMO therapy according to physician orders.
- Monitor pump functioning throughout patient therapy and maintain pump integrity.
- Monitor circuit volume and administers products, medications and/or volumes as ordered.
- Monitor anticoagulation, electrolyte, acid-base balance and blood-gas composition values and adjust ECMO circuit to maintain physician's orders.
- Generate and compile appropriate documentation and charges related to ECMO. Precept new ECMO team members.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- One or more of the following required:
- Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Department of State Health Services obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Respiratory Care Practitioners Certification Program obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
