About the Role
PECA is seeking a highly organized, commercially minded, and customer-focused Business Development, Sales Operations & Order Management Specialist to support its polymer manufacturing operations.
This individual will support the full customer lifecycle—from identifying and engaging prospective customers through job quoting, purchase-order processing, production coordination, shipment, invoicing, and ongoing account development. Because sales operations and order management do not currently require a full-time dedicated position, this role combines those responsibilities with business development and sales activities.
The successful candidate will help PECA grow its customer base while ensuring that existing customer orders are handled accurately and professionally. The role requires someone who is comfortable wearing multiple hats, developing new business, communicating with technical and purchasing contacts, preparing quotes, managing incoming orders, and coordinating with manufacturing and accounting personnel.
This is a hands-on commercial role within a specialized polymer manufacturing business. It is well suited to someone who enjoys both building customer relationships and managing the operational details required to turn opportunities into completed, invoiced orders.
- Identify and research prospective customers that could benefit from PECA’s polymer manufacturing capabilities.
- Develop new business opportunities through outbound email, phone outreach, networking, referrals, industry events, and other prospecting activities.
- Respond to inbound sales inquiries from prospective customers.
- Introduce PECA’s capabilities to purchasing, engineering, operations, and supply-chain contacts.
- Conduct initial discovery conversations to understand customer needs, product requirements, timelines, quantities, and purchasing processes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with prospective and existing customers.
- Follow up on open quotations and work with customers to address questions, clarify requirements, and move opportunities toward purchase orders.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospects, quotations, and potential projects.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing customer accounts through repeat orders, additional products, new programs, or broader manufacturing support.
- Work with company leadership to establish sales priorities, target markets, account strategies, and revenue goals.
- Represent PECA professionally during customer calls, meetings, facility visits, trade shows, and industry events.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, contacts, opportunities, and follow-up items in the company’s CRM or other tracking systems.
- Provide regular updates regarding business-development activity, sales pipeline, outstanding quotations, and anticipated orders.
- Receive and review requests for quotation from prospective and existing customers.
- Gather the information required to prepare accurate job quotes, including product specifications, drawings, materials, quantities, production requirements, tooling, outside services, lead times, and shipping needs.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, accounting, and company leadership to develop pricing and delivery estimates.
- Prepare, issue, and track customer quotations.
- Maintain organized records of quotations, revisions, supporting calculations, customer communications, and approval history.
- Follow up with customers regarding outstanding quotations and document the status of each opportunity.
- Coordinate quote revisions when customer quantities, specifications, materials, delivery requirements, or other project details change.
- Help maintain current customer pricing, product information, and quotation templates.
- Review sales activity and quotation outcomes to help identify pricing trends, customer needs, and opportunities to improve the quoting process.
- Receive, review, and process incoming customer purchase orders.
- Confirm that purchase orders align with approved quotations, including pricing, quantities, specifications, payment terms, delivery requirements, and shipping instructions.
- Resolve discrepancies between purchase orders and quotations before orders are released to production.
- Enter and maintain customer, quotation, and order information in the company’s ERP, accounting, CRM, or order-management systems.
- Issue order acknowledgments and communicate anticipated lead times to customers.
- Coordinate with production personnel to confirm manufacturing capacity, schedulin
