Responsibilities:
The incumbent is to report for work in a timely manner, groomed professionally, and perform their job function in accordance with all Norton Healthcare standards, policies and procedures. The role of the medical music therapist is to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the emotional, social, and psychosomatic needs for patients receiving inpatient treatment. The music therapist provides support to meet the needs of patients and families; plans and coordinates interventions designed to support the emotional, social, and psychosomatic well-being of hospitalized patients; and acts an advocate for patients and their families. The medical music therapist acts as an advocate for medical music therapy interventions and provides clinical and public education resources as necessary. The music therapist will provide these resources in orientation presentations, clinical presentation as related to specific needs within the hospital, support group meetings as requested by clinical staff, and the distribution of accurate information regarding music therapy services within Norton Healthcare. As a music therapist, your job responsibilities and performance expectations are intended to reflect the major responsibilities of the job but are not intended to describe minor duties or other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
