Overview:
Responsible for abstracting data and submitting it to the assigned database within established timeframes. Deliver quality patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Observes professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired regarding person, financial, medical, or employment of patients, families, and employees of DRMC. Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and DRMC. Provide education to staff regarding data outcomes and changes. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Excellent communication skills with the ability to make presentations and conduct training sessions is necessary.

Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of accredited School of Nursing, B.S degree preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in good standing for the State of Alabama required.  

Experience: Core Measures Abstraction experience preferred. Previous acute care clinical experience required. Attention to detail and follow-up necessary. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress. Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, hospital staff, physicians and community resources is required. Must be able to work independently and follow guidelines when no directions are given. Minimum of 3 years acute care experience required. Previous medical staff committee experience preferred.
