Responsible for all aspects of patient surgery. Including but not limited to: Scheduling surgery Obtains authorization for surgical procedures Counseling patients about potential surgery Maintaining surgical schedule on calendar & in computer Backs up front desk as needed Maintains physicians personal calendar Schedules meetings Prepares for office hours by pulling charts and checking for lab results, x-ray films and reports. Prints schedules and charge slips Answers phones and directs messages/schedules appointments Files charts and documents Completes disability forms

License Requirements: N/A • Certification Requirements: N/A • Age Specific Care Provided For: N/A • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following: ••• Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel ••• Microsoft Outlook ••• Meditech (if applicable to position) ••• Epic (if applicable to position) ••• Performance Manager/NetLearning Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public. Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. • Other Requirements: Must possess skills in surgical scheduling and medical terminology. Must be knowledgeable in the use of computers and transcription machines. Must be able to use a variety of mechanical equipment such as copiers, computers, facsimile machines and postage equipment. Must be able to apply HIPPA guidelines throughout interactions with patients and insurance companies. Accepts other assignments and projects as needed and requested.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Education and Work Experience:

Must possess a high school diploma or GED

Prefer 2 years experience in surgical posting

Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding a plus not required
