Overview:
The Recreational Specialist assists in the coordination of Recreation and Leisure activities and programs in cooperation with team members, families, Special Olympics personnel and consumers. This position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of Recreation and Leisure programs with the goal of maintaining and enhancing the quality of individual consumer development.

With the Director to participate in program planning, budgeting, scheduling and implementation of activities.

With the Director to participate in recruitment of volunteers and interns; supervision, orientation, training and evaluation.

To assist with maintenance of all required and necessary documentation relating to human rights issues, incident/restraints reports, and consumer records in accordance with Seven Hills Foundation policies and procedures.

With the Director to assure the quality, variety and needs of the activities meet the age, interest, and level of functioning appropriate with expectations involving community participation and self growth.

To assist with the management of programs held during evening and weekends in addition to community programs and events.

To assist with office work including, but not limited to the PRIDE newsletter, New Beginnings Golf Tournament, Special Olympics, volunteers, media releases, social media, grant funded programs.

To assist with the management of volunteers and program participant recruitment and enrollment.

To communicate with the Recreation Director and Family Support Center/Team with weekly/daily updates.

To attend relevant and appropriate meetings within the Agency, Special Olympics, and the community as directed.

To provide coverage of programs when the Recreation Director is not present.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to keep regular communication with Therapeutic Recreation Director, Related Agencies, Families and individuals

Qualifications:
Recreational Specialist Qualifications:

B.A. preferred and in related field.

Minimum of 3 years experience working with MR/DD individuals, sports, recreation and program development.

Management and/or volunteer management experience.

Sports minded/Special Olympics knowledge helpful, but not required.

Valid Driver’s License is required.

Current First Aid and CPR
