Overview:
The Paralegal role provides paralegal and project management support to Chick-fil-A, Inc.’s Legal - Employment Team on a wide variety of employment-related matters, investigations, litigation, documents, training programs, systems, and projects for Chick-fil-A, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiaries and related entities, both domestically and internationally.

 

As described more fully below, this role is responsible for, among other things, assisting inhouse labor and employment attorneys with handbooks/policies, separation agreements and notices, legal compliance, internal investigations, discipline or performance-management documents, background checks, visas and other work authorizations, cross-border travel documents, leave and accommodation paperwork, training materials, employment systems-related projects, and other employment-related documentation required to meet internal policy or legal requirements. The role also will support various litigation and pre-litigation matters, demand letters, and government investigations, including litigation tracking and responses to discovery requests, garnishments, subpoenas, and other third-party requests for information and documents. This role requires collaboration and communication on an ongoing basis with business partners, inhouse counsel, and outside counsel, as well as various administrative and legal operations functions, as assigned.

Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not necessarily limited to:

Preparing, revising, reviewing and/or maintaining investigation or performance-related documents, files, templates, and forms, such as witness statements, investigation summaries, written discipline, performance reviews, performance improvement plans and separation agreements.

Assisting with the intake and assignment of new employment-related legal matters.

Drafting, updating and/or assisting with the distribution and tracking of policies, handbooks, and other personnel records.

Preparing materials, tracking, and coordinating logistics for legal and compliance training programs.

Assisting with communications and documentation related to medical leave and reasonable accommodation requests.

Providing support to various legal compliance efforts involving federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including conducting limited research on new or existing laws and their application to the business, preparing compliance summaries, and assisting with internal legal reviews and audits of personnel policies, practices, documentation, document retention, and files.

Providing support to various employment litigation and pre-litigation matters, including litigation tracking and responses to discovery requests, garnishments, subpoenas, and other third-party requests for information and documents.

Preparing, revising, and/or assisting the company's international expansion efforts with various cross-border or country-specific processes and personnel records, such as employment agreements, policies, handbooks, codes of conduct, applications, termination requirements (e.g., termination agreements, severance, and notice entitlements), visa applications and tracking, secondment agreements, and cross-border travel documents.

Serving as project manager or providing support to inhouse counsel on various other employment-related and litigation projects for Chick-fil-A, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiaries and related entities, both domestically and internationally.

Filing, maintaining databases, tracking, reporting, scheduling, and performing other administrative functions to assist the Legal – Employment Team's operations and its internal business partners, as needed and assigned.

Providing other support to various projects within the Employment, Franchise, and Litigation Team, as needed.

Experience providing legal or paralegal support on labor & employment and/or litigation matters.
