Job Description:
The San Diego DMPK team is seeking an energetic, results-oriented Senior Research Associate level contractor. The ideal candidate has strong laboratory, communication, organizational, and trouble-shooting skills. This individual will be required to prepare samples from in vitro incubations and in vivo sample collections and to acquire various analytical data (LC-MS, radio-detection, UV), to advance Vertex research and development programs supporting small molecule therapeutics. While the research facility is not a Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) compliant facility, all studies are performed in GLP-like fashion with attention to data integrity and thorough documentation.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Independently perform in vitro incubations of drug candidates to produce metabolites using relevant drug metabolizing enzyme systems

Independently pool and process various in vivo samples for metabolite profiling; he/she must be prepared to work collaboratively and be flexible, depending on the timelines and specific circumstances of a given in vivo

Independently operate and trouble-shoot laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation including LC-MS

Execute experiments and data acquisition using good documentation practices and adherence to all facility guidelines, policies, and SOPs.

This role will utilize oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and a familiarity with various types of data acquisition and protocol management software, as well as Microsoft Office applications.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent degree in a biological science.

2-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting and proficiency with basic LC-MS instrument operation are required. Prior experience with radioactive chemicals is preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

A proven track record of collaborative work practices and strong oral and written communication skills, a familiarity with various types of data acquisition and protocol management software, as well as Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Range:
$35-40/hr
