Overview:
Reporting directly to the Department Practice Administrator, the residency coordinator is responsible for intern and external communications, functions and accreditation activities of the three dental residency programs. The individual is the liaison for each program. The responsibility for resident selection activities, enrollment and relocation into the hospital, payroll function and scheduling activities are among the primary key responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors, and other employees. Behave in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of BronxCare Health System and its employees.

 

- Contribute to and participate in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department. Contribution and participation includes data collection, analysis, implementation of and compliance with corrective/improvement activities, membership on CQI teams, consistent adherence to established performance standards and: adherence to the specific rules and regulations of the BCHS’s Safety & Security Policies; Risk Management: Incident and Occurrence Reporting; Infection Control Policies and Procedures; Patient and Customer Service.

 

- Coordinates the Orientation of new Housestaff; distribution of textbooks, stethoscopes, cell phones, keyfobs.

 

 

- Coordinates and obtains library access to AECOM, arranges for training for electronic support systems such as Dentrix, Allscripts.

 

- Facilitates the communication of information between Housestaff, departments and administration.

 

- Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings as applicable.

 

- Keeps list of Residents current including email, cell phone, SSN and other pertinent information ensuring effective communications.

 

- Organizes and distributes monthly lecture/presentation schedules to Residents.

 

- Maintains records of personnel attendance/participation in educational programs.

 

- Inputs schedules and other relevant data to the Meditrek evaluation system: Monitors Residents procedure logs/ Perio logs- recording of all Residents from all services.

 

- Facilitates the completion of timely evaluations of the Residents by the respective service/ program and its participating providers.

 

- Assist with payroll/ Kronos; tracking sick leave, vacation leave, personal leave, educational leave and other absences for the Residents.

 

 

- Distributes on-call allowance.

 

- Coordinates and submits continuing education credits to the New York State Dental Association.

 

- Coordinates with outside vendors for department events. (Vacation party, Graduation party, etc.)

 

- Coordinates PASS application/ files of applicants to all programs.

 

- Facilitates preparation and submission of all relevant reports for CODA accreditation or re-accreditation.

 

- Attends BCHS meetings for Residency Coordinators.

 

- Complies and submits requested reports to IPRO as related to Work Hours Surveys completed by the Residents.

 

- Oversees the billing, collection and deposit of medical staff due and maintains related accounting records.

 

 

- Reports to Program Directors on any changes or new developments relative to their programs

 

 

- Assists in scheduling interviews and greeting of applicants in coordination with respective program directors.

 

 

- Attends monthly Department Program Directors’ meeting.

 

 

- Ensures that housestaff has completed all required hospital orientation and educational requirements.

Qualifications:
- As previously posted and consistent with the same position throughout the institution. Prior experience preferred of at least one year.
