National Beef is looking for college students ready to explore a career in Food Safety and Technical Services Management to join our family for the summer of 2023 as Food Safety Technical Services Summer Intern.   

 

Our internship program could jump start your career in Food Safety.   You will have the opportunity to work on rewarding projects to solve real business needs.  You will be introduced to our company culture and work practices and learn about department functions and how Technical Services integrates with our entire Operations Team.  The summer will end with a presentation to the Senior Technical Services Team to demonstrate what you have learned.

 

This is an in-person, hands-on experience in a production facility.  We have multiple locations throughout the United States where we will be placing qualified interns:  Liberal, Kansas; Dodge City, Kansas; Tama Iowa; and Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.

 

This is a paid internship.  Housing allowance is included where required

 

Program length:  10-12 weeks

Responsibilities:
Program highlights for the Food Safety Technical Services Summer Internship include but are not limited to:

 

You will be working for an industry leader in beef processing

 

This experience will provide you with a broad introduction to the National Beef Packing Technical Services process including a six-week rotation through different Technical Service areas within a designated plant location.  You will work collaboratively within the plant and have networking opportunities with senior leadership in the facility.

 

As a Technical Services Summer Intern, you will be responsible for completing weekly reports to  the Corporate Director of Technical Services and the facility Quality Assurance Manager summarizing what you have learned the previous week.

 

This is not a remote position.  This is a safety sensitive position.

 

Qualifications:
Qualified Candidates for the Food Safety Technical Services Summer Intern position should possess the following:

Enrolled and have completed at least two years in an accredited college degree program focusing in one of the following fields of study:Animal Science

Ag Business

Microbiology/Chemistry

Other Related Fields may be considered

Must be classified as a junior for the 2023-2024 academic year

3.0 GPA in Core Curriculum classes

Demonstrated leadership abilities and on-campus involvement

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

Ability to work independently and be self-directed on project work

Proficient user of all Microsoft products

Intern must be available to work 40 plus hours per week (some weekend hours) on-site for the duration of the internship
