Role Description:
The Director of Electrical Engineering holds a crucial position within the senior leadership team, expected to contribute vision and leadership to the Electrical Engineering Discipline. Their responsibilities include supporting the company's strategic business initiatives, providing design-focused leadership, and enhancing the firm's presence in the community.
This role involves collaborating to develop design concepts, presentation strategies, and providing leadership to multiple design teams across various project phases and market sectors. The Director sets the standard for design excellence and ensures its implementation across projects.
The ideal candidate exhibits strong character, strategic vision, technical proficiency, team leadership, and community engagement within the electrical engineering discipline. Active involvement in professional organizations is required.
Collaboration with team members across different offices is essential, along with alignment with office and project management to achieve strategic goals and uphold company values.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Champion the firm's mission, vision, and goals through design leadership.
Establish design approaches and strategies in collaboration with electrical engineering practice leadership to meet client expectations.
Lead the implementation of design processes across projects, ensuring consistency and quality.
Develop firm-wide design approaches and processes.
Provide design direction and support, including strategy for design presentations.
Oversee project design processes and ensure adherence to standards.
Enhance market reputation through thought leadership.
Collaborate on operational strategies and budgetary planning.
Guide practice scheduling, resource allocation, and project delivery strategies.
Foster a culture of design excellence, inclusivity, and collaboration.
Lead recruitment, retention, and mentorship initiatives.
Participate in project design transformation and marketing strategies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
15+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering Design.
Completion of PE Exam is required. Licensed in state of Tennessee is preferred.
Thorough understanding of Electrical Engineering Discipline and client expectations.
Experience leading diverse projects through all design phases.
Familiarity with sustainable design practices and various engineering markets.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office suite.
