Position: Operations Supervisor

Primary Location:  Syracuse, NY

Shift: 12 hours, 4 days on 4 days off. Day shift 6 am – 6 pm

Reports to:  Plant Manager

 

 

Compensation:  $(phone number removed) + bonus, + benefits (salaried, exempt)

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.   The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position.   Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   More specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process.  Please note that the compensation details listed in the US roles postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives

About This Role and You

 

Direct day to day supervision operations personnel at our Syracuse, NY Nitrite production facility, troubleshoot and resolve equipment and operating problems. Review operating data daily. Monitor raw material utilization and production yields to ensure most efficient utilization of materials and optimization of quality products. Monitor and ensure environmental compliance for all areas of operation, air, water, and solid. Support and participate in Responsible Care programs to maintain safe working conditions for employees and the environment. Prepare, update and review operation procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation of the facility. Coordinate operations and maintenance activities to meet department goals involving budgets, production schedules and raw materials consumption

  

Qualifications

 

· Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a related management position preferred.

· Plant operations/maintenance background in a 24/7 production manufacturing environment. (chemical industry or experience in chemical plant operations preferred but not required).

· Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

· Effective written and oral communication skills.

· Ability to act independently and on own initiative.

· Excellent problem-solving skills.

· Committed to continuous improvement of safety, environment, operations and quality performance.

· Knowledgeable and effective in the use of standard computer software programs and database systems

 

Medical Requirement

Chemtrade is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the public. All employees are required to complete and pass their annually held medical assessments, including but not limited to the Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and the ability to wear a respirator as a condition of employment.

 

 Responsibilities

 

· Monitor and direct production. Provide technical training and assistance to operation personnel.

· Track production and unit consumption rates. Control operation cost.

· Review operating data daily and report and Investigate deviations from set operating parameters and initiate corrective actions.

· Identify and initiate process/production improvements and modifications.

· Communicate and fill shift vacancies for hourly personnel.

· Provide vacation relief for peers on a limited basis.

· Trouble-shoot and resolve equipment and operating problems in the unit. Monitor environmental emissions and wastewater discharge.

· Train and ensure operations personnel are trained to perform their duties safely.

· Ensure all operations personnel know and receive their regulatory, safety, and environmental training.

· Update and develop operation procedures, process modifications and equipment change to improve plant operations.

· Attend and conduct safety meetings and area inspections of the plant

· Assist Maintenance and Engineers with C.A.R. work and design and evaluate unit operations for process improvements.

· Oversee the receiving and unloading of products and raw materials.

· Perform other duties as assigned.
