The Systems Administrator position presupposes strong analytical skills, an understanding of technology infrastructure, and the ability to analyze and interpret information. The role supports cutting?edge high?performance computing (HPC) clusters and modern cloud infrastructure systems across the Enterprise Data and Analytics (EDA) Division. Responsibilities include installing, supporting, and maintaining HPC systems, ensuring non?functional requirements such as performance, scalability, security, and usability are met. Responsibilities Install and maintain the Meharry HPC cluster, including data storage solutions, authentication servers, and applications. Ensure routine backup of all files and contribute to the development and management of disaster recovery and data recovery plans. Maintain HPC servers using cluster management tools and workload management. Install and maintain job schedulers such as SLURM. Maintain the integrity and security of enterprise data on both in?house and hosted computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance with Meharrys and EDA Data Governance Policy. Manage user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with data governance policies. Prepare and provide documentation and manuals for users. Onboard users, troubleshoot issues, and provide training. Provide technical support in all areas, including security, business partner coordination, data infrastructure asset maintenance, and Active Directory identity management. Work closely with EDA staff and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) staff to manage all aspects of computer systems, HPC software, servers, networking, and application programming. Make technical recommendations related to computing hardware, network components, operating systems, and software architectures. Perform related duties as assigned (5%). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Technical mastery of system internals, network security, databases, operating systems, and emerging cluster computing technologies and architectures. Experience in cross?platform OS and application integration (Linux/Windows) and operational knowledge of Office 365 administration, Linux, SUSE, and Windows Server. HPC administration experience is considered advantageous. Knowledge of cluster management and job scheduling tools (e.g., SLURM). Understanding of regulations and compliance controls, including HIPAA, FISMA, and NIST CUI. Experience with network and routing protocols. Linux system administration experience, especially with RHEL/CentOS. Advanced scripting skills in Python, Perl, Ruby, Java, and PowerShell. Organizing and coordinating skills. Judgment and ability to manage confidential information. Ethical awareness concerning data privacy and usability for underserved populations. Presentation development and delivery skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Strong oral and written communication skills. Education and Experience Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, Engineering, or a related technical field, with at least two years of relevant experience.
