If you are passionate about these missions and interested in disrupting technologies that will change the world, AirJoule is the place for you Position Summary AirJoule is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to join the application engineering team, which focuses on optimization of device performance, product design, and integration with customer sites. The role begins in the lab, where technical leadership guides product development, and then transitions the technology into the real world. This position will control and optimize the subsystems and components that make up AirJoule systems, relying on knowledge of mass balance, process properties, and thermal management. The assignment is located at AirJoules headquarters in Newark, DE, and requires familiarity with complex chemical or mechanical systems, process control, automation, and models of chemical and mechanical systems. Key Responsibilities Drive forward applications of AirJoule systems, especially real?world deployments. Lead deployments of AirJoule systems at customer sites, including travel, planning and coordination of deployment events, commissioning, and data analysis. Lead design and implementation of supporting infrastructure for AirJoule prototypes (power sources, heat exchangers, communications systems, transportation containers). Coordinate efforts between the Applications Engineering and Design Engineering teams to optimize AirJoule sorption systems, including geometry, sizing, flow path, and adsorption kinetics. Design testing campaigns with Design?of?Experiment methods, execute them with experimental rigor, compile results, and communicate findings. Develop models/simulations for AirJoule systems, environmental interactions, and adsorption subcomponents using software such as ASPEN, Matlab, COMSOL, DWSIM, Solidworks, etc. Document experimental results in PowerPoint presentations, technical reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) entries. Education and Experience Requirements Minimum Education: Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience running multicomponent mechanical and/or chemical systems, such as rigs, reactors, automotive prototypes, including safe operating methods. Experience with real?world implementations of complex technical systems, such as field deployments or running plants. Experience troubleshooting, causal analysis, diagnostic, and performance reviews. Expertise in sorption, filtration, ion exchange, catalysis (heterogeneous), mass transport, thermodynamics, and HVAC systems (preferred). Strong expertise in design, layout, instrumentation, and sourcing of chemical and mechanical engineering systems (heat exchangers, reactor beds, condensers) and core components. Basic understanding of interpreting electrical requirements of components and sensors and their compatibility with existing systems. Aptitude for data table structuring, joining, and summarization with strong numerical skills for data analysis. Experience with modeling chemical and mechanical processes using software such as ASPEN, Ansys, Matlab, COMSOL, DWSIM (nice to have). Passionate about hands?on work while driving project execution.
